Our gemstone buying is limited to large, high-quality stones. Green Colombian emeralds, Burmese rubies from Myanmar and Ceylon blue sapphires from Sri Lanka are the only gemstones we buy. Certificates are welcome but not required. Describe what you have so we can discuss an appropriate evaluation.
This is separate from our diamond buying: we buy natural, cut and polished diamonds of any size or shape. We do not buy laboratory-grown, uncut or rough diamonds.
Start with what you know about the ring
Write down the name used on the original receipt, any markings inside the band, and repairs you know about. Describe an unknown stone as unknown. A blue stone is not enough evidence to call a ring a sapphire, and a family description does not establish a geographic origin.
Bring the ring intact. The setting may limit what can be measured or examined, but removing the stone at home can damage both parts. Ask what can be assessed while it is mounted and whether further examination would meaningfully change the purchase decision.
Discuss the gemstone and the setting separately
