Selling a Gold Rolex in Los Angeles: Choosing a Buyer
A gold Rolex should be evaluated as a complete watch, including its exact reference, components, condition and accessories. Compare written purchase terms for the same package rather than applying a gold price to the entire watch weight.
Ask the buyer to identify the complete watch
Start with the model and reference if you know them, but do not guess a reference from a similar online photograph. Describe the dial, bezel, bracelet and material shown in your records. Bring the watch so its actual configuration can be examined.
The official Rolex Day-Date collection provides a manufacturer reference for that family. It is not an appraisal of an older watch or proof that a particular item matches the advertised configuration.
Keep metal content and watch value separate
A watch contains a movement, crystal and other components. Its entire measured weight is not the weight of pure gold. The case, bracelet and replacement components also need their own material descriptions.

Look for a clear account of condition
Ask about bracelet wear, missing links, case shape, dial condition, operation and known repairs. Disclose any aftermarket gem setting, replaced bezel or service work. A manufacturer service replacement and an aftermarket alteration should not be silently grouped together.
Request an evaluation before paying for cosmetic work. A repair expense does not guarantee an equal increase in a buying offer. Keep service estimates separate from the actual price proposed for the watch as presented.
Bring documents without assigning a fixed premium
Original purchase records, warranty papers, service invoices and spare links help describe what is included. Check that they belong to the watch. Missing paperwork does not prevent you from requesting an evaluation.
No universal percentage applies to a box, a warranty card or a complete package. Ask how the actual accessories were considered rather than adding a predetermined amount to an online asking price.
Compare like-for-like proposals
Record the buyer, evaluation date, included items, final amount and any conditions. Ask whether further inspection could change the figure and whether a fee applies if you decline. Verify individual qualifications or affiliations directly instead of relying on an unsourced ranking.
